Our Story

LaVonne Music has been family owned and operated since we first opened in 1969. We were originally located off of Nicollet Ave. in Burnsville, MN. In 1983, not long after a tornado tore the roof off that store, we moved to our current location in downtown Savage.

Since the very beginning we have offered lessons, onsite repairs and a superb knowledge of Vintage Instruments, specifically guitars. Pete, the owner, has even been quoted in many articles and publications including Frets Magazine and Guitar Player Magazine as well as having sat on Gibson’s advisory board. In addition to that he has also been acknowledged in American Guitars by Wheeler which is widely regarded as the definitive book on vintage guitars.

Don’t let that deter you from visiting us if you are a beginner. We love helping people pick out their first guitar! Our staff is happy to answer any questions that you may have about instruments, gear and music.

We take pride in our inventory and because of that we invest time setting up every instrument that comes in to the store. We want everything to play easily and sound great!
